The role that the doctrine of the brotherhood in which O’Brien proclaims to Winston is one of significance and importance. The reason I say this is because it can have a tremendous effect on Winston’s life. O'Brien is a powerful member of the Inner Party who tricks Winston into believing that he is a member of the revolutionary group. O'Brien inducts Winston into the Brotherhood. Then he appears as though he’s helping Winston's by  pretending  to be connected to the Brotherhood merely to trap and get Winston commit an act of open disloyalty and disrespect to the Party in which he is deceiving him to be part of. Winston trusted and had faith in O'Brien because O'Brien appeard to be someone there for his benifit he thought O'Brien was there to encourage and upbuild him however as time proceeded he realized that he was there for just the oppisite. There was something also created called the INSOC was developed to assist in monitoring the lives of the citizens who lived there. the only way for them to gain control and know exactly what was going on they had to keep close watch on the people who lived there which also served as security purposes. Winston had become very understandable of what was going on he began to think of ways in which he could consume himself from the government by hiding himself in a very secretive way were as though none of the government officials could see him or influence him in the way in which they wanted to. While being incarcerated Winston wrote in his journal book how he use to be surrounded by walls and isolated within his own walls just to hide himself from the cameras of the officials. This was Winstons way of controling what the government could see and couldn't so therefore they couldn't control him because they couldn't see him. The doctrine O'Brien Quoted that "Only the disciplined mind can see reality" I thought that meant that only one who was disciplined mentally and emotionally could understand what was being done to the citizens at that time. O'Brient has really influenced Winston into believing that he's for him and there to help him when really he isn't there for his benefit but for that of his own.
